Navigating life’s waves and finding your inner calm, one step at a time.

Frequently Asked Questions:
What is Counselling?
Counselling is a talking therapy with a trained professional. It offers a confidential space to say whatever you want, and allows you to work through the issues that you bring.
How long will it last / how many sessions will I need?
We will look at the issues you want to address, and I can suggest a number of sessions that would best suit your needs. We will review the work together periodically to ensure that we are on track.
What does a counselling session look like?
In our first session together we will discuss confidentiality and explore what brings you to counselling in more depth, and how your concerns affect you. We will agree together on an approach that works for you and book in future sessions. There is no obligation to work long-term, but I will let you know what I think we could achieve in a set number of sessions. I am able to provide short or longer-term therapy.
We’ll work together at your pace, exploring your thoughts and feelings with curiosity and compassion. My integrative approach (using different techniques that best suit you), combines person-centered (helping you explore and find your solutions), existential (help you confront the difficult questions in life and navigate life transitions), with creative practices (such as nature therapy or art, which can enable emotional expression). We will regularly review our work together to make sure it is helping you.

Is everything I say confidential?
Yes. I don’t discuss you or your situation with anybody else, except my supervisor (without identifying you). This helps to ensure that I am keeping you safe and best practices are followed. However, all counsellors are legally bound to disclose illegal activities, but I would want to work with you to enable you to do this yourself, should circumstances arise. Further details can be found in my working agreement which I will send to you.
